Portrait-A-Day...Batch 1
I thought I would join my painting class in their portrait a day exercise. Well, for me, it was really more like 5 portraits every 7 days. Anyway, they're all done in oil on 8" x 10" canvas panels. Each one took around 2 hours to complete. I started with the Zorn palette and slowly expanded it. Here is the first batch of 20. I'll see how far I can push it before I never want to look at myself in the mirror again. My goal is at least 50.
We also did a class theme for one of the portraits, a zombie portrait. My first attempt looks very unzombie like. So I did two. The second looks more zombie… I watched the remake of Dawn of The Dead while painting it, which so helped. #1
Ha! Michael these are great! I particularly like 8, 15, 17 and 18. These also inspire me to stop letting other things distract me and pick up a paintbrush already.
ReplyDeleteWow, these are incredible! I don't know what drives you, but keep doing it. The strokes in some of these are to die for!
ReplyDeleteI always liked the third one down from the top. That's the look you have on your face before you tell me where I need to push the shadows or highlights in my painting. The ones with the heavier brushstrokes are really great.
ReplyDeleteTHICKER PAINTING MICHAEL~
ReplyDeleteFave: Zombie #1.
